From 1997 through 2006

I carry a camera almost everywhere I go. These are some of the images that caught my eye or were shot as part of an assignment.

A Day of Campaigning

I followed a candidate for Kentucky State Senate one cold February day in 2006. A wintery mix of rain, sleet, and snow fell has he campaigned door to door in his district. He went on to win this, and subsequent races, through 2020. These are a few of the images from that day.

Junior Chess Tournament

Over the course of a few hours in 2006, I shot photos of young people who weren’t interested in anything but either preparing for or matching wits with their opponents. Each of the participants looked as if they were in their element and would not want to be anywhere else. Following are a few of the images I captured from this exciting time.
