“To me, photography is an art of observation. Its about finding something interesting in an ordinary place… I’ve found it has little to do with the things you see and everything to do with the way you see them.” – Elliot Erwitt

From 2007 through 2016

The ten years from 2007 through 2016 were exciting times for photojournalists. Technology was changing rapidly and with it the way situations were shot. The publishing of photographic work was quickly evolving from newspapers and magazines to online platforms. Editors were trying to keep up with more endless possiblities and photojournalists responding to the new demands.

Mary W. Burton, my mother, lived with me and my family after my father’s passing. A series of photos captures her experience with us over the years. Some of the images in this slideshow include family members, including dad. It wouldn’t be right to show the essence of mom without showing images of dad, her children, and the rest of the family. This body of work continues to be developed for the website and should be ready in the near future.
